First Day in the Pair- EEKS

Today we were in the pair for the first time. A pair is a two person sweep boat. Each rower has one blade. It is one of the most difficult boats to row in- it requires perfect balance and timing to be efficient. If you are missing one of those thing you get dumped into the water.

My teammate sits stroke and steers with her foot It was extremely mentally exhausting. There is quite a bit to think about. By the end of the 75 minute row the two of us were getting frustrated. Being a competitive person, the two of us expected to be perfect on the first stroke and it wasn't so we got more aggressive as the practice continued. Patience is of the most challenging parts of rowing- one might say it is the art of rowing.
